Very eventfull weekend
Started with hip pain on saturday night which got worse and worse as the night went on. So much so that I spent the night sitting on the edge of the bed sobbing. My lovely fiance Karl, spent the night bringing me pain killers, helping me in and out of bed, and looking so worried and upset. Anyway in the end I called the hospital where I have my rheumy appointments and they told me to go to A&E.
The doctor there was lovely she called the oncall rheumatology reg and here the battle begins. He was very reluctant to see me saying I should be treated at the hospital I usually go to. The A&E doctor told him they had told me to go to A&E. She also said I'm guessing seen as though claire has never been through A&E before with her RA that this episode is the worst she has had (and she would be correct!!)
I was eventually sent to the ward. Dr Ahmed (yes named and shamed) give me a long sermon of how I should be at Chapel Allerton (to which I repeated they told me to go to A&E), he did not have my notes because it was the weekend (I don't care just listen to what I am telling you, my RA, my version of events therefore the best history!!) He then said that he thought I seemed quite comfortable now

, you have to admire the mans bravery here, to which I replied thanks to the morphine!! He then said he would inject my hip and the whole process from ordering the depo from pharmacy to getting the joint injection took two and a half hours!!! Now I'm not complaing about the time spent in A&E, the staff were great, or the staff on the ward or the seven hours I spent in the hospital. It was the attitude of the Rheummy doc. My background is in paediatric nursing and I was taught very early on to LISTEN to the patient, take on board their experience. I DON't care if he didn't have my notes or if he doesn't work with Prof Emery.
Plus as I was leaving he gave me the sermon again.....brave brave Dr Ahmed
